When architecture is deeply rooted in a society and landscape and is based on an understanding of and respect for biological and cultural diversity, it has the potential to be a vector of change that can transcend personal and economic interests and allow living human and more-than-human to live on earth in better ways.
The new architecture residency program at the Grantham Foundation for the Arts and the Environment seeks to explore this potential and encourage forward thinking so as to foster an architecture that is sensitive to places and all those living in them.
